Jwala Gutta sports career began at a very tender age of 13, when she stole the limelight by winning Under-13 Mini National Championship in 1996, held in Kerela. She credits her parents for their broad minded thought and her coach for her success at such small age. With age, she grew more competitive by winning junior national badminton championship in the year 2000, at the age of 17 years. Jwala Gutta height is 5 feet 10 inches, which is very good compared to her counterparts. She became more flexible and tenacious at early age with never say die and straight on the face attitude. She then partnered Pullela Gopichand in the year 2005, to win Mixed Doubles National Championship. Also she teamed V. Diju and won Mixed doubles again in the same year. Further, her partnership with V.Diju, proved to be more successful when she won Mixed doubles national in year 2007 and 2008 as well. In the year 2004, she appeared in Semis in the same tournament. However she rose to popularity charts after winning mixed doubles Gold Medal in Commonwealth Games, New Delhi in the year 2009.

Jwala Gutta Personal Life
During her badminton career, Jwala Gutta love affair began with another fellow Indian Badminton Player, Chetan Anand, who was a Junior National Champion and Arjuna Award winner. The two began dating for long and Jwala Gutta marriage happened on date 17th July 2005, but soon the couple got divorced on 29th June 2011.

Jwala Gutta had a life full of controversies mainly due to her highly expressive behavior. Gutta is never shy in speaking her heart out. Initially in her mixed doubles career, she expressed dissatisfaction for singles players given more importance than others who were playing doubles badminton. Although she was always calm, focused and a dedicated player but her revolting attitude caused troubles sometimes. Jwala Gutta boyfriend and husband Chetan Anand also expressed displeasure in some interviews in media, which lead to minor issues coming up between the couple. Jwala Gutta controversies hogged the newspapers in 2013 when she was seen another ego-clashes with her former partner ShrutiKurien-Kanetka, with whom she played Mixed doubles for 7 years. Although she found a new doubles partner named Ashwini Ponappa in 2009, the duo won a gold medal in Common Wealth Games, New Delhi. Both were beginning to develop a good partnership but her partnership came abruptly ended in March 2013, becomes of her dominant behavior for which Ponappa objected or felt sidelined. In Oct 2013, Jwala Gutta was seen making headlines for controversies over dispute with Badminton Association of India as the BAI has put a life time ban on Indian Doubles Player for trying to stop some players of her Franchise Delhi Smashers during a match against Bangla Beats in Indian Badminton League. She was also in media for her outburst against Badminton Association for her lower base price. A notice was sent to Jwala Gutta to explain the whole matter and apologize for the same, but she refused to do so. However the Delhi High Court then overturned the ban and now Gutta is free to play French Open and German Open.
According to some rumors Jwala Gutta was seen with former Indian cricket captain Mohammed Azharuddin, for which she denied but Azharuddin was seen watching most of her matches during IBL with Jwala Gutta and was even seen Gopichand academy where Gutta used to practice before matches. Her closeness with Azhar caused some differences. Jwala Gutta latest news and rumors suggest that she is ready to tie knot for the second time and stated that she is single and ready to mingle. However she said that she is focusing on her game, but second marriage is always an open option.
